Sunday 04 September 2016 16:00

+ discussion with Eliza Anyangwe, journalist and founder of The Nzinga Effect, Johny Pitts, founder of Afropean, and Gabrielle Smith, founder of The:nublk

Part-documentary, part-e-zine, this screening covers music, performance art and other taste-makers from Africa.

Africa’s future is happening now. On the cusp of an historical shift brought on by technology and economic development, creative movements are thriving. Part-documentary, part-e-zine, this dynamic series visits cultural hubs and artists in Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Angola who are producing real and challenging images of Africa. Afripedia contributors include: outspoken androgynous musician Wiyaala; extraordinary trick-bikers Bikelordz; performance artist and illustrator Serge Attukwei Clottey; Titica, a trans superstar and Nástio Mosquito – the mavericks behind Kuduro (Angolan electro music). Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire are represented in the eyes of photographer Omar Victor Diop, afrofuturist fashion designer Selly Raby Kane and beatsmith Fanny.
