Celebrate the music, dance and extraordinary cultural legacy of Michael Jackson with Michael Mania, a large-scale live concert experience at Nottingham Playhouse.
The production brings together singers and dancers to recreate some of the music and choreography associated with one of the most successful Black recording artists of all time.
Audiences can expect songs including Billie Jean, Thriller, Smooth Criminal and Black or White, presented with choreography and visuals inspired by Jackson’s legendary live performances.
From his childhood as part of The Jackson 5 through to his unprecedented international solo career, Jackson played a transformative role in popular music, dance, music video and live entertainment.
His success also helped break significant barriers for Black performers within mainstream television and the international music industry.
The impact of videos such as Billie Jean and Thriller, together with his distinctive choreography and performance style, changed expectations around what a pop performance could look like and influenced generations of artists.
Jackson’s career crossed racial and musical boundaries at a time when Black artists continued to face considerable obstacles within mainstream entertainment.
For Black History Month audiences, Michael Mania offers an opportunity to revisit the work of an entertainer whose influence can still be seen across music, dance, fashion and visual culture.
Michael Mania takes place at Nottingham Playhouse on Friday 2nd October 2026 at 7:30pm.
