CBSO plays Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra

Thursday 16th Februry

A burst of fireworks, a shout of joy – Bartók was ill and in exile when he wrote his Concerto for Orchestra, but he poured all his fiery spirit into the ultimate showpiece for a symphony orchestra at the top of its game.

First, though, a trip to France: where Ravel conjures a fairytale world, and CBSO favourite Alban Gerhardt stars in Saint-Saëns’ elegant, ardent concerto.

Artists

  • Roderick Cox  Conductor
  • Alban Gerhardt  Cello
  • City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra
