DBFHUK Black History Month 2026 – Celebrating 100 Years of Black History

Saturday 10th October 2026

DBFHUK Black History Month 2026 brings Deaf and hearing communities together for an accessible family celebration of Black history, identity and culture.

Organised by Deaf Black Friendly Hub UK, the event has been created to ensure that Deaf Black people can participate fully in Black History Month activities while celebrating the experiences and contributions of communities that can sometimes be overlooked within both Black history and disability conversations.

The programme will include entertainment, African food, games, community stalls and activities suitable for families.

British Sign Language access forms an important part of the event, helping create an inclusive environment where Deaf and hearing visitors can participate together.

The celebration recognises that Black British history contains many different experiences shaped by culture, disability, language, migration, family and community.

By providing an accessible space for people to meet, celebrate and share experiences, the event demonstrates how Black History Month can include a broader range of voices and stories.

Families, friends, supporters and members of the wider community are welcome to attend.

Taking place during Black History Month 2026, the event provides an important opportunity to celebrate culture while promoting greater understanding and inclusion.
