Three visually impaired performers from Japan, Nigeria and the US follow the example of The Goze to tell contemporary stories of migration to the UK.

The Goze were blind storytellers who travelled the length and breadth of medieval Japan making a living from their epic tales. In this new production, three visually impaired performers from Japan, Nigeria and the US follow their example to tell contemporary stories of migration to the UK.  Living independently in London for the first time, they each face new challenges with accommodation, language, and forging their lives and careers as an aerialist, viola player and Soprano.

Flight Paths is the first ever co-production from Extant, the UK’s leading theatre company of visually impaired people, and Yellow Earth, the UK’s leading British East Asian theatre company. It brings together playwright Glen Neath, movement specialist Vicki Amedume from Upswing, surround-sound technologist Tarim and filmmaker Terry Braun to deliver a dynamic and highly experimental piece of theatre.

By combining movement, music and narrative with inclusive audio description delivered through experimental sound technology, Extant and Yellow Earth have created an exciting new piece of live performance within a multi-media landscape that will challenge artistic and access boundaries.
