Join Barawak for a special Windrush Day event celebrating the legacy, resilience and cultural impact of the Windrush generation through film, conversation and Caribbean hospitality.
The evening centres on a screening of Milestone – Streets Paved With Gold, a powerful production written and performed by acclaimed actor, writer and storyteller Victor Richards. Spanning more than six decades of British West Indian life, the story explores the hopes, sacrifices and achievements of those who arrived in Britain seeking opportunity and helped shape modern British society.
Through personal stories and historical reflection, the production captures both the challenges and triumphs experienced by Caribbean communities, offering audiences a moving and thought-provoking insight into the Windrush experience.
Following the screening, guests will have the opportunity to take part in a live Q&A with Victor Richards, providing a deeper understanding of the inspiration behind the work and the real-life experiences that helped shape the story.
The event also includes a Caribbean meal and complimentary drink, creating a welcoming atmosphere where attendees can enjoy great food, music and conversation while celebrating Caribbean culture and heritage.
