Black Ballad Presents: In Conversation with Anyika Onuora

Thursday 9th June

Come and join us as we celebrate the launch of Anyika Onuora’s debut autobiography, My Hidden Race.

If there is one thing Black Ballad is determined to do, it is to serve as many black women in Britain as possible, so we are so excited to announce our second regional event of the year! We will be in Liverpool on 9th June to celebrate and Olympic medalist and Liverpool’s finest Anyika Onuora as she publishes her memoir My Hidden Race.

Anyika will be in conversation with our Content Creator, Mia Thornton, as they discuss Anyika’s athletic career, growing up in Liverpool and the nuances of being a black northern woman.

Anyika’s debut autobiography, My Hidden Race, is an unflinching testimony of what it takes to pursue your dreams as a Black British woman against all odds. Revealing her life for the first time with complete fearlessness, Anyika uncovers a world that often takes place far from the spotlight of the Olympic torch and shines an intense light on the brutal reality of professional sport for many black females.

The event will take place on Thursday 9th June at Chapters Of Us, with doors opening at 6:30pm. Guests will have the opportunity to join in with an audience Q&A, network and chat with likeminded black women, and purchase a copy of *My Hidden Race,* signed by Anyika herself.

Tickets will also include a goodie bag with complimentary haircare products from ABV Organics and Wakati Hair!

This event is open to everyone. As always, we have preferred pricing tickets for Black Ballad Members:

– Members – Free*

– Non-Members – £7.50

With an option to get a discounted BB Membership for non-members:

– General admission + 3 months of BB Standard Membership – £15

– General admission + 3 months of BB Premium Membership – £18

Black Ballad Membership helps black women live their best lives, through articles, videos, events & a community for, by & dedicated to black women.
