Factory Spotlight: Liberation Town

Tuesday 27th October 2026

Aviva Studios hosts an evening of African and Caribbean poetry, music and dance as part of Manchester’s Black History Month celebrations.

Factory Spotlight: Liberation Town is curated by artist Dee Kolo and brings together performance, storytelling and cultural expression inspired by African and Caribbean heritage.

The event creates a space for artists and audiences to explore ideas of identity, liberation, community and cultural pride through live performance.

Music, poetry and dance are brought together to celebrate the traditions that have travelled across generations and continents while continuing to influence contemporary British culture.

The evening forms part of Factory International’s Black History Month programme at Aviva Studios.

Factory Spotlight is designed to give artists a platform to present work, share stories and connect with audiences in an informal setting.

Liberation Town places African and Caribbean creativity at the heart of that programme, celebrating both heritage and the new work being created by artists today.

The event begins at 7pm.

Tickets are free, but advance booking is required.

The venue is wheelchair accessible.
