Omar Sosa and Seckou Keita

Sunday 21 November 2021

Omar Sosa, the Cuban pianist, joins forces with Seckou Keita, the kora virtuoso from Senegal, to perform music from their second collaboration, Suba.

Sosa is a fixture on the global jazz scene as a composer, bandleader and Grammy-nominated musician with 30 albums under his belt.

Keita was a childhood prodigy growing up in Senegal as part of a griot household (meaning music is the family trade).

His transcendent performances have taken him all over the world, and, in collaboration with harpist Catrin Finch, he was named Folk Musician of the Year by BBC Radio 2 in 2019.

Sosa and Keita’s first album, Transparent Water, received terrific acclaim when it was released in 2017, with Songlines describing it as ‘beautiful, rhapsodic and spiritual’.

Now you can hear music from their follow-up at this event, where they’re joined onstage by percussionist Gustavo Ovalles.

Time: 7.30pm
