Reimagine Local Government 2025

Tuesday 24 June

Change has become the new normal in local government, with councils across the country navigating a perfect storm of financial pressures, rising demand, cultural shifts, and evolving relationships with their communities.

Yet, while the pace of change accelerates, many working within the sector are feeling the strain. Fatigue is setting in, and traditional approaches to change—often rigid, top-down and overwhelming—are failing to inspire. It’s time to try something different.

What if you could take a day away with your team to focus on a specific change you want to bring about—free from distraction, but surrounded by peers, colleagues and experts who understand the pressures and possibilities of local government? A day not only to step back, but to step forward—with renewed energy and fresh perspectives.

Reimagine Local Government offers just that. Curated by a team of specialists in local government, organisational change and business psychology, this one-day event blends keynote speakers, real-world case studies and structured group exercises. It’s designed to help you tackle your current challenges head-on and reframe them in ways that unlock new thinking.

This is not your typical conference. It’s part away day, part learning event, part workshop—and entirely focused on action. You’ll be encouraged to explore your challenge through a range of lenses: What would happen if you tackled it through culture change? How might new power dynamics help or hinder? What can be learned from others who have faced similar issues? It’s a rare opportunity to slow down in order to move forward, with practical tools and inspiration to take back to your organisation.

The event takes place at the People’s History Museum in Manchester—a fitting location for a day centred on bold thinking and collective action. As the national museum of democracy, it’s filled with stories of change-makers and trailblazers who reshaped the systems of their time. Even better, the museum will be closed to the public for the day, giving you full access to a unique and inspiring space without interruptions.

We’re also exploring the option of a post-event reception from 5pm, including drinks, canapés and a private museum tour designed to energise your next steps. If you’re interested in attending this additional session, just let us know when booking. Whether you’re deep in a change process or just starting out, Reimagine Local Government offers a day to think bigger, plan smarter, and move forward together.
