A celebration of independent African and Caribbean filmmaking, featuring documentaries, short films, director discussions, poetry and food at Manchester’s Contact Theatre.
The Independent Black Manchester Film Festival returns with a programme showcasing stories created by Black filmmakers from Manchester and beyond.
The festival will feature documentaries, short films and feature-length productions exploring identity, migration, brotherhood, community, Black hair, faith, resilience and the experiences of African and Caribbean people in Britain.
Films include The Nod – Tell Me You Got Me, Gold, Omo Eko, Extremely Telling, MyMan: An Origin Story, A Story Left Behind, Home Away and Towards Sun.
Several of the filmmakers will attend the festival, giving audiences an opportunity to hear directly from the people behind the productions. The programme will also include question-and-answer sessions, panel discussions, information stalls and spoken-word poetry.
Food will be available during the day.
The festival is open to all ages. Doors open at 11.45am, with the programme beginning at midday.
