Black History Month briefing for Cultural Education Partnerships

Thursday 21 October 2021

Join Lou Taylor from BHM South CIC to find out more about Black History Month, how it works and the opportunities it offers for your CEP.

Black History Month is an annual event that aims to: promote knowledge of black history and experience; disseminate information on positive black contributions; heighten confidence and awareness of black people in their cultural heritage. The month is celebrated in October in the UK.

At this briefing you can find out more about how it works, see examples of great cultural education work that’s been delivered through Black History Month, learn how to connect with Black History month in your locality and start developing ideas for how your CEP can get involved in future years.

The briefing will be led by Lou Taylor, Director of Black History Month South and advisor for the Southampton 2025 City of Culture Bid. Southampton has celebrated Black History Month for the past 15 years, and its impact and influence has increased across the community with local Schools, universities and colleges playing a significant role.

This event is hosted by BHM South CIC and Artswork, South East Bridge.
