Celebration of the inaugural Britain Zimbabwe Society Lifetime Achievement Award to writer, historian and cultural icon Pathisa Nyathi.
The BZS Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) recognises longstanding excellence. The 2021 LAA is based on arts and culture, and the BZS is delighted to honour Pathisa Nyathi in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Zimbabwe in this field.
During his career, Pathisa has been a pathbreaker and has become a cultural icon. Still as busy as ever, he continues to set the standard as a writer, publisher, historian, community activist, cultural leader and elder. At the LAA event, Pathisa, who celebrated his 70th birthday in July, will share his story.
The LAA will also be a platform for a wider panel discussion on Zimbabwean history, culture and literature. The panel, featuring historian Prof Sabelo Ndlovu- Gatsheni, literature and humanities writer and researcher Prof Tsitsi Jaji, and others, will share their perspectives. The event concludes with a BZS Lifetime Achievement Award presentation to Pathisa.
