Creatively Minded and Heritage is a new report commissioned by the Baring Foundation and compiled by the Restoration Trust. Through 18 case studies, the report showcases excellent practice across multiple art forms, heritage assets, inclusive, people-centred approaches, organisational structures and health settings to demonstrate how all heritage can be used creatively to improve people’s mental health and community connections nationwide.
The Baring Foundation and the Restoration Trust with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund are holding an online launch for the report on 23 November 3-4.30pm.
We will hear from:
Iqbal Singh, The National Archives
Iqbal will talk about two public collaborative projects, run in partnership with therapists at the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network and Stillpoint Spaces respectively, which explored important and challenging materials held by the National Archives relating to racism, colonialism and empire.
Kate Davey, Outside In
Outside In is a national charity which provides a platform for artists who face significant barriers to the art world. Kate will talk about their Exploring Collections courses which gives artists the opportunity to work creatively with the collections of partner organisations, which have included the Wellcome Collection, Pallant House Gallery and Glasgow Museums, amongst others.
Paul Barclay, Wild Ways Well (Cumbernauld Living Landscape)
Wild Ways Well is part of the Creating Natural Connections project run by Cumbernauld Living Landscape (CLL). Wild Ways Well organises a variety of outdoor public events and sessions to increase local people’s access to green spaces and widen enjoyment of the benefits of nature and natural heritage to mental health.
There will also be contributions from The Restoration Trust and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The event will be held on Zoom and access details will be available nearer the time.
