Tech Dissect w/ KG

Sunday 28 November 2021

Our special guest for our November Tech Dissect session is producer, DJ and radio broadcaster KG.

In this session, KG will delve deep into the myths and truths surrounding song structures across all genres. We’ll get a chance to explore her Logic Pro X workstation as she breaks down one of her own original tracks, sharing tips and tricks on how to successfully build a song from start to finish.

About KG:

For nearly a decade, Karen Nyame KG has been an innovative and percussive luminary of dance music. Dubbed as the “Goddess of Rhythm”, KG’s plethora of African polyrhythms, low-end sub-basses, and energetic drum patterns are surefire to showcase the evolving sound of London’s club music hybridity and bounce. Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce label recently released her standout collab single with UNIIQU3 titled, B2B / Black Roses. Before that, her EP Sensei was released with Goon Club Allstars and she collabed with Scratcha DVA on a Hyperdub release, Touch EP.

Taking cues from a musically rich adolescence, her musical sphere is entrenched with those cut from the same cloth–collaborating with prolific acts across global and diasporic club music genres from South African Amapiano to US Jersey Club. After making waves on renowned stations like BBC Radio 1Xtra, Boiler Room, Red Bull Music, NTS, and Foundation FM, KG has recently joined the national station Capital Dance with a new daytime radio show. Alongside Red Bull Music, she runs music production workshops –  inspiring and empowering the next generation of women in music tech. Since her return in 2018, after a short break from the music industry, KG has gained international recognition and press accolades in numerous press outlets like Mixmag, Dummy, DJ Mag, Fader, Fact Mag, and Resident Advisor.
