A rare opportunity to see Andy Sheppard and Laurent Cugny perform together in celebration of the big band music of Gil Evans.

In 1987, famous French arranger and composer Laurent Cugny invited Gil Evans to play with his orchestra, the Big Band Lumière for a 21 concert tour round Europe. Two famous discs were recorded: Rhythm A Ning and Golden Hair featuring Andy Sheppard who was a regular companion of Laurent Cugny during these years. These recordings are the last big band music Gil Evans recorded before his death a year later in 1988.
Laurent and Andy mark the 30th anniversary of these recordings in their first UK performance together in many years.
