Lulu Pierre | Jazz & Torch Songs

Tuesday 12th September

Already making waves on the London jazz vocal scene, Lulu Pierre has proved herself to be a classic Torch Song stylist with the sass of Nancy Wilson, and the swing of Sarah Vaughan – and a knack for heartbreaking ballads too.

With the experienced piano accompanist Alex Webb and his trio, she performs evergreens from the Great American Songbook, heartbreaking Torch songs and some surprising non-jazz repertoire choices.

Webb is a pianist, arranger and songwriter with a long history of working with leading jazz vocalists; his songs have been recorded by Liane Carroll, China Moses, Jo Harrop, Allan Harris, Cherise, Ayanna Witter-Johnson and many others. He and Lulu have recently played to great acclaim at London venues including Hampstead Jazz Club, Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec and the Oriole Bar.

Lulu and the Alex Webb Trio will be joined by the award-winning, multi horn-playing and internationally recognised saxophonist, Tony Kofi.

Lulu is a striking stage presence with a voice that send chills down your spine. You know from the moment she walks on stage that she’s something special’ – Naomie Harris OBE (Academy Award, BAFTA & Golden Globe nominee)
