Learn to play and perform the tabla in these 1-2-1 music lessons, taught by professional tabla player, Yousuf Khan.

What to expect

Guided by tutor Yousuf, these 1-2-1 tabla lessons give students the unique opportunity to learn this much loved South Asian instrument.

Students will learn how to accompany singers on the tabla and keep in rhythm, as well as learning how to tune the tabla using the appropriate tools.

Please note, a 1-2-1 session must be booked in advance either online or over the phone. Tablas will be provided.

Class 1 – 7pm-7.30pm 

Class 2 – 7.30pm-8pm

About Yousuf Khan

Yousuf comes from the same famous dynasty of musicians as Ali Akhbar Khan, and began playing tabla at the age of five, later studying in Calcutta. He came to England from Bangladesh in 1980 at the invitation of Leicester music service, to help set up South Asian music teaching in the City. He has worked extensively as a music teacher/workshop leader and performer ever since, and has been working with Grand Union for over 20 years.
