Festival of African Cuisine to Bring Pan-African Flavours and Culture to London This Summer

A major celebration of African food, culture and creativity will take place in London this July, bringing together over 50 food vendors, designers and performers from across the continent.

One of the UK’s largest celebrations of African food and culture, the Festival of African Cuisine, will take place in London this summer, offering a vibrant showcase of culinary traditions, fashion and performance.

Scheduled for Sunday 19 July 2026 at the Mercure Hotel, Lillie Road, West Brompton (SW6 1UD), the festival is expected to attract more than 2,000 visitors for a full day of food, culture and entertainment.

The event will feature over 50 food vendors, representing more than 30 African nations, offering a wide range of traditional dishes and contemporary interpretations of African cuisine. Designed as a family-friendly, ticketed event, the festival aims to celebrate the diversity and richness of African culinary heritage.

A Celebration of Food, Culture and Creativity

Among the highlights is an appearance by Nigerian celebrity chef and online cooking sensation Sisi Yemmie, who will lead live cooking demonstrations on traditional African dishes. With a global following of over 1.1 million subscribers and a portfolio of published cookbooks, she will also host a Q&A session, offering insight into her career and approach to African cuisine.

The festival will also feature fashion showcases from leading UK-based African designers, including Caroline Oriokot, a prominent Ugandan designer and founder of an online African fashion platform.

Live performances will bring additional energy to the event, with South African dancers and performers led by LinRic Toto, known for her powerful Xhosa musical traditions, including the vocal style Ukombela.

In addition to food and performance, the programme includes a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary Mothers of Chibok, exploring the ongoing impact of the Chibok schoolgirl kidnappings and the resilience of the families affected.

A Growing Cultural Platform

The Festival of African Cuisine continues to position itself as a key platform for celebrating African heritage in the UK, bringing together food, fashion, music and storytelling in one space.

With its focus on community, entrepreneurship and cultural exchange, the event highlights the growing influence and visibility of African-led cultural initiatives across Britain.
