What is the importance of preserving cultural history? How is what was taken during slavery and empire retraced? Do our memories of the past affect our collective consciousness?

Rapper, journalist, author, vegan activist, poet, political activist and public intellectual: Akala wears his many (still peaked) hats with pride.
His bestselling book Natives: Race and Class in the Ruins of Empire is part polemic and part biography, taking his own experiences and applying history and data to explore the social, historical and political factors that have left us where we are today.
Professor Abosede George is Associate Professor of History and Africana Studies. Her research explores the urban history of Africa, the history of childhood and youth in Africa, and the study of women, gender, and sexuality in African History.
She is currently at work on The Ekopolitan Project, a digital archive of family history sources on migrant communities in 19th- and 20th-century Lagos, West Africa.
Ed Emeka Keazor is an historian, lawyer, author and documentary filmmaker. His books include 120 Great Nigerians You Never Knew and The Nigerian History Photo-book. His film Onunaekwuluora, on archaeologist Professor Thurstan Shaw, documents Shaw’s uncovering of Igbo-Ukwu artworks that proved the Igbo people created complex works of art 1000 years ago. In 2014, he received an award for his work on African history from The African Society of Cambridge University.
