Join rising star Michael Mayo for a captivating live performance blending jazz, R&B and soul at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
Fresh from the release of his acclaimed album Fly, Mayo brings a bold and intuitive sound that pushes the boundaries of contemporary jazz vocals. Known for his extraordinary range, he combines harmonising, beatboxing and fluid improvisation, creating a distinctive and expressive musical style.
Born into a deeply musical family—his mother a vocalist for artists including Beyoncé and Whitney Houston, and his father a saxophonist for Earth, Wind & Fire—Mayo has developed into one of the most exciting voices in modern jazz. His training at the New England Conservatory and the Herbie Hancock Institute helped shape his artistry, leading to collaborations with leading musicians and international touring.
His latest project, Fly, recorded with an all-star ensemble including Shai Maestro and Linda May Han Oh, showcases a mix of original compositions and inventive reinterpretations of classics by Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter. The result is a performance style that is both technically impressive and emotionally direct.
