Ashley Allen & Friends play the Rebirth of Kirk Franklin

A special night of gospel music is set to take place as Ashley Allen & Friends present a live performance of one of the most influential albums in gospel history — The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin.

Originally recorded live in Texas 25 years ago, this iconic album marked a turning point in contemporary gospel, laying the foundation for Kirk Franklin’s enduring and award-winning solo career.

For this unique performance, the entire album will be brought to life on stage with a fresh take that reflects Birmingham’s own musical spirit. From the soaring energy of “Hosanna” to the rich harmonies of “He Reigns”, audiences can expect a full-bodied celebration of gospel music’s power to uplift, inspire, and connect.

Led by musical director Ashley Allen, the evening features a vibrant ensemble of musicians and singers drawn from across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Their collective talent and passion bring renewed life to a landmark work that continues to resonate with listeners around the world.

This event promises not just nostalgia but a reimagining—offering a chance to experience the joy and depth of The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin in a new light. Performers include Casey Bailey, Lumi HD, Francis Mott, BIMM Gospel Choir, B:and Together Gospel, and Town Hall Gospel Choir. A heartfelt evening of rhythm, reflection and celebration awaits.
