Windrush Creative Legacy Project

Wednesday 1 October – Wednesday 29 October 2025

Windrushers at work by Kainé Management.

The Windrush Creative Legacy Project is an inspiring five-week programme designed to bridge generations through creativity, memory, and cultural exchange. Bringing together members of the Windrush generation and young people, this initiative provides a rare opportunity to reflect on the migration experience, share lessons learned, and build connections across age and community divides.

Throughout the sessions, participants will engage in conversations that capture lived experiences of arriving and settling in Britain, and the resilience and contribution of the Windrush generation to national life. These discussions will then inform the creation of a collaborative Creative Legacy artwork, which will serve both as a celebration and a lasting testament to these shared stories.

The programme runs on Wednesdays in October 2025, with sessions held from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 1 October 2025
  • Wednesday 8 October 2025
  • Wednesday 15 October 2025
  • Wednesday 22 October 2025
  • Wednesday 29 October 2025

At the conclusion of the project, the completed Creative Legacy will be unveiled to the wider public during the Leicester Windrush Gala Dinner on Saturday 1 November 2025, marking a powerful culmination of dialogue, memory, and art.

Participation in the project is free, ensuring that all who wish to celebrate and honour the legacy of Windrush are able to take part.
