Theatre & Social Change Open Talks #6: Stella Kanu

Tuesday 7 December 2021

Join us for an evening of culture to promote new emerging Black British talent.

18:00 – 19:00 – The Talk – The legacy of Black Artist in Britain by ex RHACC student Kim Sheldon will explore how the Windrush generation contributed to the British Art Scene. As an official African and Caribbean Heritage Guide at the V&A museum, London, she has subsequently worked with the V&A Learning and Events Departments. Her written work is inspired by key events that took place in the 17th-19th century, specifically those concerned with the Black narrative.

19:30 – 20:00 – A New Play – “The Windrush Sceret” written and performed by Rodreguez King-Dorset. “A young white ‘England for the English’ Far-Right party leader, a black Caribbean diplomat and an Oxford educated Home Office official are giving speeches on the same day, at different times, in separate locations, about the Caribbean ‘ Windrush Scandal’. This play was originally commissioned by the Royal Maritime Museum in 2021.
