Creating space for the next generation creatives: Inspiring stories of British-Somalis in Media

The panel of vibrant Somali journalists and creatives will discuss the role they can play in mainstream media’s balanced reporting of the Somali population in the UK.

 

Zahra Warsame is a British media personality who works as a broadcast and digital journalist for Channel 4 News, covering a variety of national and international events. Khadra Salaad is a BBC journalist and communications specialist with vast experience in print, radio, and television. Anisa Omar is a TRT World journalist, producer, and presenter.

Previously worked as a communications professional for Amnesty International and Plan Global. Ikran Dahir is a BuzzFeed News online culture correspondent located in London. She is a journalist and co-founder of S.Y.T. (Strong Young Thing). She worked as a reporter and producer for London360 and Media Trust.

We will conclude the session with live music and poetry.
