London History Day 2018

This event is part of our African Jubilee Year 1987-88 @ 30 programming.
Although part of the African Jubilee Year Declaration urged the promotion of positive imagery, achievements and contributions of Africans at home and abroad, including naming buildings, parks, monuments and streets after notable Africans, this pricess began before the Declaration. For example, Dalston Library was renamed CLR James Library in 1985, and Selous Street in Camden, was renamed Mandela Street in 1983. The process however continues – Bernie Grant Arts Centre wss name after the late Tottenham MP in 2007.
