Stories from Senegal

8 Oct 2017 - 1-3.30pm

Join urban griot and master drummer Karim Mbaye to share traditional Senegalese stories brought to life using African musical instruments including the drum and kora.

In this workshop children will have the chance to listen to traditional stories from Senegal, and be able to get hands on with traditional African musical instruments too. They will will then create and share their own creative short stories inspired by Karim’s tales.

As well as providing young people with an understanding of Senegalese culture, traditions and music, this hands-on workshop encourages story-telling and communication skills, promotes kindness towards others as well as the importance of celebrating different cultures and traditions.

The workshop is free but limited places are available so booking is advised. Register for your free ticket on Eventbrite.

This event is part of our Black History Month event series.
