The Black History Month Conference 2025 is one of the headline events of this year’s programme in Manchester. Taking place at the historic Martin Luther King House, this one-day gathering brings together community leaders, educators, students, professionals and families under the national theme: Standing Firm in Power and Pride.
The theme highlights both resilience and achievement, calling us to reflect on the creativity, strength and brilliance of Black communities in Britain. It asks difficult questions about education, workplaces and inclusion, while celebrating identity and cultural pride.
The programme blends spoken word performance, lived experience panels, video testimonies, breakout discussions and delegate reflections. Morning sessions explore identity and resilience through creativity and testimony, while afternoon sessions focus on Black in the Workplace and Black in Education, tackling bias, representation, curriculum and progression.
Delegates will hear powerful testimonies, engage in discussion groups, and have the chance to share ideas on how to create more inclusive classrooms, workplaces and communities. The day is designed to balance creativity with practical action, ensuring that participants leave with inspiration and concrete steps they can take forward.
By the close of the conference, participants will have had the chance to share stories, connect across sectors and explore practical solutions for positive change.
Tickets: Attendance is free, but places are limited. Please book early via Equality and Diversity UK’s booking form.
