State of the Nation: An Evening with Akala

Monday 20 April 2026

Concluding the UK tour at The Lowry in Salford, State of the Nation invites Greater Manchester audiences to reflect on the forces shaping modern Britain. Akala draws together history, culture and political analysis to examine how narratives of empire, race and class continue to influence British society.

Through careful storytelling and critical insight, the talk challenges audiences to think beyond surface-level explanations and engage with the deeper structures that inform inequality and identity. Akala’s work encourages reflection not only on the past, but on collective responsibility for the future.

This Salford event provides a powerful close to the national tour, offering an evening of thought, dialogue and cultural engagement.
