African Diaspora Postgraduate Student Seminars 2021 – 22

Thursday 4 November 2021

Leading Routes is proud to be partnering with Birkbeck, University of London and The Transatlantic Roundtable on Religion and Race (TRRR) to host a seminar group focused on scholarly support and development for social science postgraduate students.

The group which was initially started four years ago by Dr William Ackah, Dr Robert Beckford and Dr Gabriella Beckles-Raymond is now expanding! The seminars will be held online and are open to students from any UK university at both Masters and PhD level.

During these 2 hour sessions (held on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30pm), Dr William Ackah and Dr Gabriella Beckles-Raymond will facilitate the seminars which aim to:

  • Strengthen written and oral communication of Masters dissertation and PhD research
  • Provide space for individuals to present their research ideas and encourage group discussions on research topics
  • Offer an environment for peer and moral support through the research process

These seminars are specifically aimed at Black African Caribbean students.

You’ll have the opportunity to present but you’ll be expected to attend to support others in the group. If you join the group please hold the following dates.
