Join Dr. Wanda Heading-Grant, Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer for a captivating and insightful conversation with esteemed scholar, Dr. Joseph William Trotter, Jr., the Giant Eagle University Professor of History and Social Justice.

Professor Trotter will focus on the historical experiences of Black individuals in Pittsburgh, spanning from the harrowing days of slavery and segregation to the complexities of the present era. Carnegie Mellon University Archives is currently processing Professor Trotter’s academic papers.

This collection will make his research accessible for a new generation of scholars working to build a more equitable future for all. Professor Trotter will reflect on his profound impact on academia and discuss the current state of social justice and the Black urban experience, including his current project to explore the development of community-engaged reparations plans for the City of Pittsburgh.
