Scratchylus Returns with New Music, Festival Performances and Black History Month University Tour

Scratchylus has performed at several of the UK’s best-known cultural celebrations and is set to appear at the International One Love Festival at Bentley Estate in Hastings from 21–23 August.

Reggae artist and Black history advocate Scratchylus is preparing for a busy summer of performances before returning to universities across the UK this October as part of his annual Black History Month tour, combining music with conversations about heritage, identity and the enduring legacy of the Windrush Generation.

The artist recently appeared at this year’s Windrush Legacy Celebrations in London, performing alongside Vibes FM personalities including Jan, Mighty Vibes Sugar Dread and Blacka P. During the event he introduced audiences to his newly released single, Windrush Generations, a track produced in Jamaica that pays tribute to the generations whose journeys helped shape modern Britain. The performance also featured his songs Is Change A Game They Play and the popular reggae anthem Woman Wants De Loving With A Little Reggae, both warmly received by the audience.

For Scratchylus, music has long been more than entertainment. Throughout his career he has used reggae as a vehicle for education, storytelling and cultural awareness, encouraging audiences to reflect on the history and contributions of people of African and Caribbean heritage in Britain. His commitment to education was highlighted in an interview with the Jamaica Observer, where he spoke about the importance of ensuring that young people understand Black history, describing its teaching as critical to helping future generations appreciate their heritage and the achievements of those who came before them.

The coming weeks will see Scratchylus perform at several of the UK’s best-known cultural celebrations. He is due to appear at the International One Love Festival at Bentley Estate in Hastings from 21st to 23rd August before joining the celebrations at Notting Hill Carnival on 31st August with a performance in Powis Square. Later the same day, he will perform at the London Carnival After Party at Westfield London, continuing what promises to be one of his busiest performance schedules in recent years.

Following the summer festival season, Scratchylus will once again take his message directly to students through his annual Black History Month University Tour. The programme has become an established part of his calendar, giving students the opportunity to experience live reggae while engaging in conversations about Black British history, the Windrush legacy and the role that music continues to play in preserving culture, identity and social awareness.

The annual tour reflects a growing recognition of the role that artists can play in education. By blending performance with discussion, Scratchylus encourages audiences to explore the stories behind the music, while highlighting the contributions of the Windrush Generation and the wider African and Caribbean communities whose experiences have helped shape modern Britain.

As Black History Month approaches, the tour offers another opportunity to celebrate the resilience, creativity and achievements of Black communities while encouraging a deeper understanding of Britain’s shared history. Through both his music and his educational work, Scratchylus continues to demonstrate how culture can inspire dialogue, build connections and ensure that the legacy of previous generations remains alive for those who will shape the future.

Scratchylus’s music, including his latest release Windrush Generations, is available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. Fans can also follow his latest news, performances and educational activities on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
