Beyond Black History Month: Forum #1

Thu, May 20, 2021 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM BST

Join us at an open forum for people to share their opinions and views on the history and life of racialized communities in Nottingham.

In response to the feedback received during the first Beyond Black History Month event in October 2020, NAE has developed an open forum for people to share their opinions and views on the history and life of racialized communities in Nottingham.

For this Forum, we would like people to respond to the questions:

  • What is the role of Nottingham’s art galleries in sharing Black history and life?
  • Is NAE doing enough for the Black community in Nottingham?

We are in the midst of an unprecedented period of loss, disruption, and seismic change. The way we interact with each other and with culture has drastically shifted. Going from a social sphere that mainly centred physical intimate, communal, and familial gatherings—both private and public; to almost solely searching for human connection within virtual encounters mediated through mobile devices and computer screens.

As an organisation, we are trying to find ways to be together with our communities and audiences, to share cultural experiences, and stay connected.
