Soul and Dance Icon Jocelyn Brown to Celebrate 40 Years in Music with London Show

Legendary soul and dance vocalist Jocelyn Brown will celebrate more than four decades in music with a special London concert at Hackney Empire on 24 April 2026, joined by special guest Rozalla and a full live band.

One of the most powerful and recognisable voices in soul and dance music, Jocelyn Brown, will return to London this spring for a special anniversary concert at Hackney Empire.

Taking place on Friday 24 April 2026, the performance will celebrate over 40 years of Jocelyn Brown’s extraordinary career, with the iconic American singer performing alongside a full live band and special guest Rozalla.

The evening will see Brown perform songs from her celebrated catalogue of soul, disco and dance classics. Among the highlights are the 1984 hit “Somebody Else’s Guy”, the influential “Love’s Gonna Get You”, and dance-floor favourites such as “Keep On Jumpin’” and “Something Goin’ On (In Your Soul)”.

Known for her commanding stage presence and powerhouse vocals, Brown has built a career that has spanned decades and influenced generations of artists across soul, house and dance music. Her live performances are widely praised for their energy and audience connection, bringing together timeless anthems with soulful musicianship.

Throughout her career she has collaborated with major figures in popular music including Quincy Jones, Luther Vandross, George Benson and Roberta Flack, while her early recordings with Kleer and The Salsoul Orchestra helped define the sound of disco and rare groove.

Born into a musical family and first singing gospel in church choirs in Brooklyn, New York, Brown developed a style that blends gospel power with soul and dance rhythms. Her work continues to resonate across the worlds of R&B, house and club culture.

The Hackney Empire show will mark Brown’s first London appearance since her sold-out residency at The Jazz Café, offering audiences the opportunity to experience one of the genre’s most enduring voices in a landmark London venue.

Special guest Rozalla, best known for the global dance anthem “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)”, will also join the evening’s line-up.

The concert is expected to be one of the standout soul events in London’s 2026 live music calendar.
