Updating The Brent Black Music History Project
In 2007, BTWSC released the Brent Black Music History Project DVD and booklet – a landmark documentation of black music heritage in the borough.
Nearly 20 years later, project lead and historical musicologist Kwaku is bringing the story up to date. Join him and a panel of local knowledge experts for a presentation and interactive workshop at Harlesden Library.
Whether you want to listen, share memories, or help fill in the gaps not covered in the original resources, you’re welcome to take part.

Come along in person or join virtually – all locals and music enthusiasts are invited to contribute and help shape the next chapter of Brent’s Black music history.
Please note: The Brent Reggae Album Covers Exhibition continues at Harlesden Library until 31 October 2026, when there will be a) a hybrid curator session, 6-8pm b) an unveiling of a plaque by The Reggae Tree which won’t be via Zoom.
