Disney’s High School Musical

Celebrating 20 years since Disney’s High School Musical became a global phenomenon, the Wildcats arrive in London this autumn for a major new production at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre.

 

Following its opening season at Lowry in Salford, the first UK non-replica production of the much-loved Disney musical transfers to London for a limited season, opening during Black History Month 2026 and continuing through Christmas and New Year.

Audiences are invited back to East High to join Troy Bolton, Gabriella Montez, Sharpay Evans, Ryan Evans and their classmates in the story that introduced a generation to songs including Breaking Free, Get’cha Head in the Game, Stick to the Status Quo and We’re All In This Together.

The story begins when basketball star Troy and academically gifted newcomer Gabriella unexpectedly discover a shared love of singing. When they decide to audition for their school musical, their ambitions challenge the expectations of their friends and classmates and begin to disrupt East High’s established social groups.

At its heart, High School Musical is a story about friendship, confidence, individuality and having the courage to pursue interests that other people might not expect of you. As Troy and Gabriella attempt to balance basketball, academics, friendships and auditions, the students of East High begin to question the labels that have shaped their lives.

The London production stars Harry Judd as Coach Bolton, with original Disney High School Musical film cast member KayCee Stroh as Ms Darbus. Tobias Turley stars as Troy Bolton alongside Leonor Correia as Gabriella Montez, Caitlin Tipping as Sharpay Evans and Luke Bayer as Ryan Evans.

The company also features Char Burnett, Jordan Benjamin, Simeon Beckett, Mary Francis, André Phipps and Kade Stenson, alongside an exciting ensemble bringing the world of East High to a new generation of theatre audiences.

Co-directed by Joseph Houston and William Whelton, the production brings a fresh theatrical interpretation to the much-loved Disney story while retaining the music, characters and uplifting spirit that made the original a global success.

Since the Disney Channel Original Movie premiered in 2006, High School Musical has grown into an international cultural phenomenon. Its combination of music and dance with an uplifting message about friendship, self-expression and refusing to be confined by stereotypes introduced the story to millions of young people around the world.

Twenty years later, a new generation of performers is bringing those ideas back to the stage. The themes of finding your own identity, following your ambitions and recognising that people can be more than the labels placed upon them remain central to the story.

Opening in London during Black History Month 2026, the production also provides an opportunity to celebrate the diverse new generation of performers taking their place on major British stages.

Whether you grew up singing along with the original film or are discovering East High for the first time, Disney’s High School Musical promises an energetic and uplifting theatre experience celebrating friendship, individuality, ambition and the importance of having the confidence to be yourself.
