Talented young musicians from the Royal Academy of Music’s Junior Academy present a special Black History Month programme curated by cellist Mariatu Kanneh-Mason and Head of Performance Daniel Tong.
This free lunchtime recital celebrates a new generation of musicians through a varied programme of solo and chamber music.
The concert features works by pioneering Black composers William Grant Still and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, alongside music by Gabriel Fauré, Frédéric Chopin, Giovanni Bottesini and Robert Schumann.

The Royal Academy of Music’s Junior Academy brings together some of the UK’s most talented young musicians every Saturday. Many of its students go on to build professional careers in music.
This showcase offers audiences an opportunity to experience exceptional emerging performers while discovering music by Black composers whose work has made an important contribution to classical music.
The concert is presented in association with Junior Academy at the Royal Academy of Music.
The performance will also be streamed live on the St James’s Piccadilly YouTube channel from 1.10pm.
Admission is free, and no advance booking is required. Donations supporting the church’s creative programme are welcome.
