Hejira

Part of WOW – Women of the World

Hear Joni Mitchell’s album Hejira performed by the Nu Civilisation Orchestra with Peter Edwards at the helm.

The orchestra is joined by Mercury Prize nominees Eska and Lisa Hannigan, and Emel Mathlouthi, whose song ‘Kelmti Horra (My Word is Free)’ became an anthem for the Tunisian revolution, sparking the movement that came to be known as the Arab Spring.

Blending folk, jazz and pop influences, Hejira uses the Prophet Muhammad’s Hijra as a jumping-off point to tell stories of personal journeys, figuratively and literally.

Join us at this concert on International Women’s Day, celebrating women’s experiences of migration.
