Andrew Woodhead is a musician, composer and producer working across a variety of contexts taking in jazz, free improvisation, electronica, folk and new music. Projects he is involved with include electro-acoustic duo ELDA with Aaron Diaz, collaborative arts practice Ideas of Noise with Sarah Farmer, and Mark Sanders’ CollapseUncollapse trio.
As well as performing solo on both acoustic piano and live electronics, Andrew has also collaborated in improvised settings with Olie Brice, Hannah Marshall, Paul Dunmall, Kim Macari, Annie Mahtani, Chris Mapp, Ole Mofjell, Natalie Sandtorv, Percy Pursglove, Jacob Garchik and many more.
His debut solo album ‘Pocket Piano Improvisations’ was released in May 2016, followed by ‘Shiny/Things’ with ELDA ft. Kari Eskild Havenstrom. ELDA released seven EPs in 2020-22; ‘Live at BEAST’ featuring Georgia Denham, ‘Hippocampinae’ featuring Faye MacCalman, ‘a different name for the same river’ featuring Chris Mapp and Sam Wooster, ‘Metal Built’ featuring Anton Hunter, duo album ‘Na Madraí’, ‘Hello Spirit’ featuring Meesha Fones, and ‘Primary/Secondary/Tertiary’ featuring John Derek Bishop.
His latest album ‘Pendulums: Music for Bellringers, Improvisers and Electronics’ was released on 11th June 2021.
Lucy-Anne Daniels
A natural performer, creative improviser and talented musician, Lucy-Anne is a practiced vocalist hailing from Leeds whose vocal sound draws inspiration from singers such as Betty Carter, gospel duo Mary Mary and Amy Winehouse. Having been raised in a musical household, Lucy-Anne found herself in the world of performance at a young age, often singing in church and at local events and fundraisers in her hometown of Leeds. The rich rhythms and harmonies of gospel music, with its own roots branching out from Jazz, have always been an underlying feature of Lucy-Anne’s musicality, therefore, it was a natural that she gravitated towards jazz. At the tender age of sixteen, Lucy-Anne became the vocal chair holder for NYJO’s 24-piece jazz orchestra in December 2019. Since then she has performed with the band at various venues and festivals across the country, most memorably a hometown gig which saw her return to the historic Leeds Town Hall. In September 2020 she began studying jazz voice at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, receiving tuition from both Sara Colman and Noemi Nutti. Lucy-Anne is a member of the National youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) and an established emerging artist on the Birmingham jazz scene in her own right.
