‘Don’t Forget The Rush’- Celebrating Windrush

Friday 20 June

Back by popular demand, the acclaimed stage production Don’t Forget The Rush returns for a special performance in honour of the Windrush Generation.

This heartfelt and spirited play brings to life the story of those who made the historic journey aboard the Empire Windrush, which docked in the UK on 22 June 1948, marking a defining moment in British history.

The production takes audiences on a journey through the eyes of two women travelling from Jamaica and Trinidad, capturing both the excitement and uncertainty of migration. With warmth, wit and emotional depth, the play blends humour and historical insight to paint a vivid picture of the challenges and triumphs faced by the Windrush pioneers.

This evening’s performance begins at 7pm, with a running time of approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. It is a family-friendly show that welcomes audiences of all ages, offering an inclusive way to connect with the legacy of the Windrush Generation while enjoying a moving and entertaining piece of theatre.

Don’t Forget The Rush skilfully balances moments of levity with important social themes, making it both educational and enjoyable. Audiences will leave not only entertained but also with a deeper understanding of the courage, resilience, and cultural richness brought to Britain by Caribbean communities.

Whether you’re revisiting the play or seeing it for the first time, this is an opportunity to reflect, celebrate, and remember the stories that continue to shape modern Britain. Join us for a powerful night of theatre that pays tribute to a generation whose impact remains as relevant as ever.
