MCM Birmingham Comic-Con

Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November 2015

A weekend-long celebration of movies, comics, sci-fi, games, anime, cosplay and collectables.

American actor Lee Majors became one of Hollywood’s hottest properties in the 1970s when he starred as bionically-enhanced astronaut Steve Austin in hit television series The Six Million Dollar Man.
Lee is one of numerous celebrities making guest appearances at this well-established show, which brings together a broad scope of popular-culture categories including movies, gaming, comics, anime, television shows, gadgets, clothing and toys.

JUST ANNOUNCED!
Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler is to be one of the special guests at this month’s MCM Birmingham Comic Con, event organisers have announced. Tyler, who played elf maiden Arwen in Peter Jackson’s epic trilogy, will be meeting fans on the Sunday of the NEC show.

As well as appearing in The Lord of the Rings, Liv Tyler played Betty Ross in 2008 Marvel superhero movie The Incredible Hulk, Sarah Helgeland in dark superhero comedy Super and Grace Stamper in sci-fi blockbusterArmageddon. Meanwhile, last year saw Tyler make her television debut as Meg Abbott in acclaimed HBO fantasy drama The Leftovers.

Creator, director and star of sci-fi web drama Wireless Andrew Lee Potts (Primeval, Ideal) will be attending MCM Birmingham Comic Con together with new cast members Sarah-Jane Potts (Kinky Boots, Waterloo Road) and Jemima Rooper (Atlantis, Lost In Austin).

Double, double, toil and trouble! MCM has summoned a pair of Once Upon A Time‘s wickedest witches, Victoria Smurfit (Cruella de Vil) and Merrin Dungey (Ursula the Sea Witch), to be special guests at this month’s MCM Birmingham Comic Con. Victoria and Merrin will be meeting fans and signing autographs throughout Comic Con weekend.

US film and TV actor Dina Meyer, best known for her roles in Starship Troopers, Birds of Prey and the Saw movies, will be joining the special guest line-up at MCM Birmingham Comic Con, meeting fans on both days of the 21-22 November show.

MCM Birmingham Comic Con is pulling an all knighter, with a trio of chivalric stars from epic HBO fantasy Game of Thrones attending the event when it returns to the NEC later this month. Ian McElhinney and Eugene Simon will be attending both days of the 21-22 November show, while Ian Beattie will be meeting fans on the Saturday of Comic Con.

Ian Beattie (The Tudors, Alexander) plays a knight of a very different stripe – Ser Meryn Trant, a cowardly bully of a man ‘better at beating little girls than fighting men’. A member of the Kingsguard, Ser Meryn takes great pride in obeying the orders of King Joffrey without question or hesitation, no matter how stupid or sadistic they may be.

Ian McElhinney (Ripper Street, Hornblower) plays Ser Barristan Selmy, one of the few truly honourable characters in a series awash with treachery, deceit and skulduggery. A great swordsmen, Ser Barristan was dismissed from the Kingsguard by the cruel King Joffrey – freeing him to serve Daenerys Targaryan.

Eugene Simon (House of Anubis, Before I Sleep) completes our trio, appearing on Game of Thrones as Ser Lancel, eldest son of Kevan Lannister and cousin to Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion. Knighted for his role in King Robert’s death, Lancel later undergoes a religious conversion, taking holy orders and joining the Faith Militant as Brother Lancel.
