Black Europe event: Keon West on The Science of Racism

Tuesday 21 January

Join us for an enlightening talk with Professor Keon West, who will delve into the science of racism. Building on the eye-opening research featured in his upcoming book The Science of Racism: Everything You Need to Know but Probably Don’t—Yet, West will discuss the profound and sometimes surprising ways racism continues to impact our society.

This event will offer a science-based approach to understanding racism, tackling polarising questions and misinformation with rigorous research and refreshing clarity.

Drawing on decades of research, West will challenge common assumptions and reveal hidden truths about racism in society, from disparities in hiring practices to the financial costs faced by Black individuals online. His insights, as featured in his latest book, The Science of Racism, published by Picador, promise to be shocking and illuminating. Picador, Pan Macmillan’s literary imprint known for its rigorous and impactful nonfiction, has brought this groundbreaking work to a broad audience.

This event will feature Professor Keon West’s presentation, an engaging conversation, and a Q&A session, chaired by Lasana Harris, Professor of Social Neuroscience and Vice-Dean International at the UCL Division of Psychology & Language Sciences.
