Black History Month Theme: ‘Proud To Be’

Hounslow Council would like to invite you to celebrate Black History Month with its third sector community groups, residents, and staff.

 

The Theme for this year is ‘Proud To Be’. The campaign aims to make Black History Month 2021 personal and unique to individuals, families and communities, focusing on how we’re all making history all the time in our own ways, as well as the challenges, contributions and achievements of Hounslow’s Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.

  • 5.30pm – 5.35pm: Introduction – Cllr Katherine Dunne (Lead Member for Equalities)
  • 5.35pm – 5.45pm: Tackling Race Inequalities – Work of Member Task Group – Cllr Lilly Bath (Chair of Tackling Race Inequalities Member Task Group)
  • 5.45pm – 6.55pm: ‘Proud To Be’: History, Challenges and Achievements of Hounslow’s diverse communities:
  1. Caribbean/West Indian Community Garvin Snell – No Shame in Running
  2. West African Community Descendants
  3. Somali Community Ilays
  4. Indian Community Trinjan
  5. Pakistani Community Pakistan Welfare Association
  6. South Indian Community Tamil Community Centre
