Omikemi will facilitate a 90 minute talking and body work session on the theme of black bodies being asked/forced to simulate whiteness.
Participants will be invited to share experiences, existing strategies for resistance and to experiment with other body based moment to moment freedom practices Omikemi is currently developing that take inspiration from the writings of Foluke Taylor and Carla Sherrell.
About the facilitator:
The session will be facilitated by Omikemi who uses their time to create spaces for listening and alongsideness. They do this through writing, somatics and workshop facilitation. They have been practicing somatics and meditation for over a decade and will draw on their life experience and trainings in body psychotherapy, embodied counselling, mindfulness based approaches and somatics to facilitate this workshop.
