A night of legacy, culture, and unapologetic pride.
The Greater Manchester CAHN Black History Month Launch Event, organised by the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN), sets the tone for Black History Month 2025. Taking place at The Gorton Monastery on Thursday 25 September, this year’s launch marks 80 years since the historic Fifth Pan-African Congress, which was hosted in Manchester in 1945.
That moment helped shape Africa’s future, igniting the fight for independence across the continent and planting seeds of unity, resistance, and revolution. Eight decades on, this event gathers communities to reflect, remember, and celebrate its enduring legacy.
Expect an evening rich in culture, music, reflection, and community spirit. There will be live performances, keynote messages, and creative showcases honouring Black resistance and excellence from the past, present and future.
