Windrush Day 2025 Manchester: Caribbean Culture Festival – Alexandra Park

Saturday 21 June

Celebrate Windrush Day 2025 in the heart of Manchester with a vibrant, family-friendly event at Alexandra Park on Saturday 21 June from 12 noon to 6pm.

A Tapestry of Caribbean Cultures: Roots and Routes across the Caribbean to Greater Manchester brings together music, food, community, and culture in a joyful celebration of heritage and identity.

This free event highlights the enduring legacy of the Windrush Generation, honouring their resilience and immense cultural contribution over the past 77 years. From heartfelt stories and powerful traditions to the everyday influence Caribbean communities have had on Greater Manchester, the day offers a space to reflect, celebrate and connect across generations.

Expect a lively programme of entertainment including live music, spoken word, and performances that showcase the diversity of Caribbean culture. Cultural displays and artistic exhibitions will offer deeper insight into the stories and journeys of those who helped shape the local community. A dedicated children’s play area will feature activities designed to inspire young people and connect them with their heritage in fun and engaging ways.

Free health checks and screenings will be available throughout the day, delivered by Caribbean and African health professionals—supporting well-being as part of the wider community focus. A friendly football match and a variety of local stalls offering Caribbean food, crafts, and services will add to the festival atmosphere.

Civic and community leaders will take to the main stage to share reflections and recognise the achievements of the Windrush Generation and their descendants. With something for everyone, this celebration is a true reflection of the roots and routes that continue to shape Greater Manchester’s story.
