The session will begin with a warm-up ‘Word Race’, before looking at the experience of writing letters. Each participant will consider what Black History Month means to them, and who they would like to express this to.
There will be the option of students to read out their finished letters at the Black History Month celebratory event on Friday 21st October, and to be published on the CoolTan Arts website.
Martin Okoli is a London-based artist, who has also authored two books: The Brave Voice of Ronnie the Rabbit, a children’s book about domestic abuse and To Have No Technique: Thoughts, Poetry and Art about Manhood, a collection of poems exploring masculinity. As well as writing, he is also a visual artist and is studying to be a Play Therapist. When not making art, Martin works for The Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP) as a violence prevention worker and volunteers for the GREAT Men Project as a facilitator delivering workshops to boys about gender equality.
