Celebrate African and Caribbean heritage with an afternoon of shopping, food, live performances, workshops and brilliant Black-owned local businesses.
The Black History Month Market brings together Black-owned traders, food vendors, artists and members of the community in the heart of Clapham Junction.
Visitors can browse a vibrant selection of African and Caribbean heritage fashion, art, lifestyle products, gifts and other items from local independent businesses.
A varied programme of live performances and activities will create a welcoming atmosphere throughout the afternoon, offering people of all ages an opportunity to celebrate culture, creativity and community.
There will also be two free, interactive Ghanaian drumming workshops led by expert drummer Abass Dodoo and the One-Drum team.
Ghanaian drumming workshop times:
- 12 noon–1pm
- 2pm–3pm
Participants will learn authentic African rhythms and discover some of the stories and cultural traditions connected to the music. No previous drumming experience is required.
The market takes place at Bramlands Square, opposite the Grant Road exit of Clapham Junction station, between Dawes House and Grant Road.
Entry to the market is free, and no booking is required. Free advance registration is available online.
