Friday 19 November 2021

This personal and historical documentary is also global story. It examines migration, struggle, resistance, sacrifice, hope and triumph. It is a very human story, a very ‘British’ story.

Dr Aminul Hoque interviews his father as he recalls the racism and isolation he experienced in the 1960s and 70s. He speaks to the ‘invisible’ heroines (Bangladeshi women) who worked 24/7 as seamstresses within the confines of their homes. Aminul also goes back to the village of his birth in Sylhet, Bangladesh with his British-born kids.

wants to see whether they feel a sense of connection to a place that they have never visited before. Followed by some brief reflections from Aminul Hoque and Adam Keelan, and a Q&A session chaired by Dr Layli Uddin.
