Host Dr. Beverley Prevatt Goldstein asks “Is racism and anti-racism relevant to you today?”.
Dr. Beverley Goldstein has worked extensively in social work practice and education, equalities education, and community engagement. Her numerous publications include “Un Equal Access: The Housing Experience of Black People” and “Searching for new perspectives on heritage: The Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans”. Beverley is actively involved in the creation of resources that center around African Lives in Northern England.
This talk is titled “Is racism and anti-racism relevant to you today? Learning from Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1967 speech at Newcastle University”. Beverley will explore the meaning of racism, its current manifestations, and its impact. Additionally, she will exhibit inspirational black women in the North East. There will also be an online walkthrough of African Lives in Newcastle from past to present. The exhibit and walkthrough will be available throughout the day.
